How Sponsor Donations Work
Gardnerville Elementary School (GES) is a part of the Douglas County School District, government entity, not a private nonprofit. That means your gift is still tax-deductible under IRS Code §170(c)(1), which covers donations made “to a federal, state, or local government, if the contribution is for a public purpose.” That public purpose is to benefit the growth and development of education at that given place. We at GES ensure to utilize the funds in such a way that keeps your donation accurate and commendable according to Publication 526.

You can claim the deduction on your business tax return.
As treated as a charitable contribution, it can be claimed under IRS Code §170(c)(1).
